Architecture Festival
We were delighted to be part of the Model Architecture Festival in Barcelona from April 20th to 30th. During this time, we had the opportunity to offer twice the architect tour: Ciutat Vella, Recovery its Essence, with guides Sandy Brunner and Maria Puebla Escolà.
It was a unique experience for participants as they explored how cities can be rethought and regenerated by improving their neighborhoods through planning. They also learned about ongoing projects such as urban regeneration initiatives, which have been designed in order to improve public spaces or create new ones altogether. This gave everyone involved insight into how architects are currently working towards making our cities better places while preserving their historical heritage at the same time.

Launched by Barcelona City Council and the Catalan Architects' Association (COAC) in 2022, this year it has been organized through the Fundació Mies van der Rohe.
“The cornerstone of the 2023 edition of Model. Barcelona Architectures Festival had been the notion of radical empathy. The power of radical empathy in design, architecture and city making was be addressed from multiple perspectives including research, dissemination, experimentation and celebration spaces. Radical empathy, in the context of architecture and design, implies designing spaces and buildings that do not just respond to the needs and desires of their users but which also strive to address social, cultural and environmental issues in a transversal way.”
The jury from the Model Architecture Festival had chosen winners across three categories: Installation Model Award, Digital Architecture Model Award and Curatorial Projects Model Award: Go check out their inspiring work at Model Awards | Model. Overall it was great being part of this festival which is dedicated not only celebrating architectural models but also exploring ways that these models can help shape our future cityscapes in meaningful ways – something that we wholeheartedly believe in here at urbanvisor.
