Remodeling of the Rambla

In October 2022, work had begun to remodel the Rambla in Barcelona. The entire reform will take up to 8 years and cost 44 million euros. The goal is to create a greener, friendlier, and more comfortable avenue for pedestrians, with more space for cultural interaction.

Some of the changes include wider pavements made of natural stone, more benches, and three large open spaces for cultural interaction. There will also be a single traffic lane on each side for public transport, deliveries, and use by local residents. In addition, there will be support for iconic establishments and subsidies for new businesses.
